Bio

Bryson is a working musician specialized in piano and keyboard. He works as both a soloist and collaborator. From classical recitals to 18 piece funk bands, Bryson has found enjoyment performing in various musical settings and genres. Much like language, music offers unlimited freedom of expression through its ever expanding genres and rich history. Sharing that freedom with audiences, colleagues, students, friends, and family is one of Bryson’s passions. The shared experience of music unites people in a moment of being. Bryson Skaar graduated Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music with an emphasis in Piano Performance in Spring, 2015. At OSU he studied with Dr. Rachelle McCabe. He has performed with the OSU Wind Ensemble, OSU Wind Symphony, Bella Voce, University Chorale, and OSU Jazz Ensembles. Bryson began his music studies with piano instructor Nancy Currans. Bryson graduated from Philomath High School with honors where he participated in Symphonic, Marching, Jazz Bands, multiple honors bands, and various accompanying opportunities. Following his academic years Bryson worked as a faculty collaborative pianist for OSU. During those years he collaborated primarily with solo voice, instrumentalists, and choirs.

Bryson is the primary pianist and keyboardist for DTW Productions. He is also the pianist for the Corvallis Community Choir and Peace Lutheran Church in Philomath. You can find him regularly performing Monday evenings at Imagine Coffee. Bryson teaches and coaches piano/keyboard locally and occasional does educational outreach work through school and studio masterclass/coaching sessions.

Bryson has found liberty in improvisation that is vital to his relationship with music. He looks forward to celebrating this freedom and his classical roots in his first solo piano album. Be sure to follow Bryson via social media to stay up to date on his progress and his performances!
